STARTUPS@REEPERBAHN –
Round III

As usual, September in Hamburg this year is bound to be baking hot and awash with opportunity: the Startups@Reeperbahn Pitch will again give five fantastic startups from throughout Europe the opportunity to present their business to over 80 investors and investment managers.

Besides a host of journalists and another 300 hand-picked VIP guests from Germany’s digital and media industry, participants can look forward to the opportunity of taking home the incredible first prize of €100,000 – the SPIEGEL ONLINE MEDIAPREIS, which comes with a media budget totalling €100,000.

Reeperbahn flair and bags of opportunity to rub shoulders with like-minded business visionaries: continuing the tradition of previous years, the investors attending the event will, the very same evening, whisk the pitch participants off for a more intimate business tête-à-tête in one of our ‘Lovemobiles’. And anyone adept enough to hard sell their business idea at one of these meetings might just find themselves following in the footsteps of Tinnitracks, our 2013 winning team, thus laying the foundation for important deals in the future.

And if that were not enough, our Grand Jury featuring Katharina Borchert (CEO SPIEGEL ONLINE), Chris Barton (co-founder of Shazam) and others will pick the 2015 winning startup, whose founders will doubtless be thrilled to pocket the SPIEGEL ONLINE MEDIAPREIS.

Here are some things you need to know…

Music meets Startups

What do music, startups and the Reeperbahn neighbourhood of Hamburg have in common? The answer is simple: musicians and startups are inspired by the same spirit. They both need the right team and have to believe in a shared vision, work hard to become successful and, in the end, reach a wide audience. Hamburg’s Reeperbahn neighbourhood is creative, boundless and authentic, which makes it the perfect setting. It’s a unique blend for an extremely personal and unusual format, used to bring start-ups and investors to the same table.

The Reeperbahn Festival is Germany’s biggest club festival and is among the three most important meet-ups for the music and digital economies in Europe. From 23 to 26 September, over 600 programme items across a variety of different brackets will take place at more than 70 locations dotted along and around the Hamburg Reeperbahn. Hamburg Startups is the foremost platform for anyone interested in the Hanseatic city’s startup scene, and lobbies for effective networking and showcasing of the startup scene itself. Besides a variety of event formats, the founders established a platform that provides all startups with a transparent forum to present their ideas. Initiated by Hamburg Startups, the two players came together in 2013 to launch Startups@Reeperbahn, and have since busied themselves breathing life into this exceptional format.
